Justine Otto was born in Zabrze, Poland, in 1974 and currently lives and works in Hamburg, Germany.
Otto creates layered imagery with loose, vibrant brushwork. Drawing inspiration from films and vintage photographs, she paints single figures, or groups, immersed in mysterious activities. The artist’s enigmatic narratives are humorous, edgy and captivating.
Justine Otto’s works are featured in the permanent collection of The Phillips Collection, Washington, DC, and in numerous private collections in the U.S. and Europe.
